5 Novels for Saint Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! While your friends and family are out pinching people who are not wearing green, proudly displaying their "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" shirts and generally enjoying the raucous holiday that is Saint Pat's - why not curl up with one of these titles and your celebratory green beer or wine while spending the holiday swept up in Ireland via a book? My motto always is, have book will travel (in my mind I suppose).

1. Angela's Ashes, Frank McCourt // A memoir of Frank McCourt's upbringing and tale a family's life in poverty. It's a Pulitzer winner - and a remarkable read.

2. PS I love You, Cecelia Ahern // You probably saw the movie, but in case you didn't here's the book. When Holly loses the love of her life, he leaves her a bundle of letters to help her cope.

3. Love, Rosie, Cecelia Ahern // By the same author of PS I Love You, Rosie and Alex are childhood friends who do everything together. Inseparable until one day Alex's family moves away. The two communicate via email - this is a very charming read about two people who are destined to bet together but fate keeps them apart.

4. Scarlett, Alexandra Ripley // a sequel to the Margaret Mitchell classic Gone with the Wind - Scarlett O'Hara's story continues in this book as she travels to Ireland.

5. Brooklyn, Colm Toibin // The story of an Irish Immigrant who settles into a new life in Brooklyn and a coming of age tale about a young girl finding herself, first love and what she wants in life.
